Holiday Music

So it's that time of year again and I'm sure everyone is excited for the holiday season.  If you want to go out there and listen to some holiday music let me give you some suggestions
George Strait's "Classic Christmas"
Taylor Swift's "Holiday Collection"
Alan Jackson's "Let It Be Christmas"
Kenny Chesney's "All I want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan"
Faith Hills' "Joy to the World" (one of my favorite Christmas albums)
Joe Nichols' "A Traditional Christmas"

If you want to listen to the traditional Christmas music then I would say go with the Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, and George Strait album's.  For a more unique or country sound try the other ones.

Hope you enjoy!

"Somewhere With You"-Kenny Chesney

It's been out for a couple weeks and the fans seem to love his newest single called "Somewhere With You".  Chesney's latest single is climbing country charts and does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.  Why would it? It's an awesome song that is great to listen to!  I think this might be his next number one. A few posts ago, i said any song off his "Hemingway's Whiskey" album could be a single and this is a prime example of that.  Albums often have good songs and some not-so-great songs, but this one is full of good songs without a single bad one.  I know it's a little early to be predicting his next single after "Somewhere With You" but I think it will be either "Round and Round" or "Reality".  "Somewhere with You" gets a thumbs up.

"Definitive Hits" by Trace Adkins

I recently bought this compilation of hits and needless to say it is great! Trace's hits, execpt hi most recent called "This Ain't No Love Song", is on it.  In this 2-pack hits collection, trace shows why his career is as strong as his voice.  From the nineties hits to this decade's, Trace's songs all have a genuine country sound and story to them from the romantic and heartbroke songs to the "twangy thing, and hillbilly thing", this has it all.  I really enjoyed this package and if you are a country fan then there is a good chance you will to.  Good job Trace Adkins.

"Number One Hits" by Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw is once again set to release yet another hits compilation.  For those who do not have his other hits compilations (Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits Vol. 2, Greatest Hits Vol. 3) then i think this might be a good package for you.  However, if you are one of those that has two or more of his other hits compilations, like I do, then I do not think this would be a smart purchase.  There is only one new song on this new package and there are fewer songs than the other three hits cds put together.  Tim is one of my favorite artists, after George Strait and Alan Jackson, but i think he needs to lay off the whole releasing a new hits compilation after every new studio album.  He needs to let the fans catch up and savor the music already out there and he needs to have more hits so he can have hits compilations that get longer (like George Strait's and Alan Jackson's), instead of taking older hits off to add newer hits like Southern Voice, he should have a longer list of hits on them.  Overall, this of course has great music on it from a couple years ago and some more recent material, but not enough.  Maybe a 5o Number Ones like George Strait's released about five years ago would be better.  Like I said I am a huge Tim MgCraw fan but he needs to add more hits and lay off the hits compilations for a few years.

Alan Jackson--New Compilation of Hits?

Alan Jackson plans to release a new "34 Number Ones" cd on November 23.  This compilation of hits will include hits like "Gone Country", "Here in the Real World", and "It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere".  "34 Number Ones" is also supposed to include the Zac Brown Band's single "As She's Walking Away" in which he demonstrates why he is one of the best singers out there...and has been for about twenty years. I can't wait for it to come out, but when it does I will post what i think about it.

"Hemingway's Whiskey" by Kenny Chesney

I pre-ordered Chesney's new album online about a week before it came out and picked it up the first day it came out.  I've been listening to the album again and again and you know what?  I really like it! The music is what you would expect from Kenny Chesney.  This album has a good variety of songs that make you want to get a few friends and have an awesome party to the songs that make you sit down and reflect on your own life.  "Hemingway's Whiskey" might just be his best album yet containing everything a Chesney fan could want. As I mentioned a post or two ago, there are two versions: regular and deluxe edition.  I bought the deluxe edition and I am glad I did.  It comes in a "recyclable" case that opens like a tri-fold.  Inside the case there are three pockets to hold the cd, dvd, and the booklet.  I like that the booklet is included separately because I can display the tri-fold case while being able to store the booklet and discs safely away.  The dark case looks very cool, but don't let it fool you into thinking it only has sad or depressing songs.  If you know Kenny Chesney, you know his albums always bring joy and partying to your radio while bringing a song to make you think about where you are and where you have been.  I love his new album and I can't stop listening to it.  If you are thinking about getting it....go get it!!!

NEW Kenny Chesney Album Out Soon

"Hemingway's Whiskey" comes out in 8 Days!
If you are a Chesney fan then I bet you are excited for his upcoming album titled "Hemingway's Whiskey".  I personally look forward to it, not just listening to it but actually buying it.  There are two versions: the regular version and the Deluxe Edition containing bonus tracks and a dvd.  I think I want the Deluxe Edition even though it costs a few bucks more, but I am hoping it's worth it.  For the best price I suggest you shop around, but so far the best price I have found has been on BestBuy's website..

"This Ain't No Love Song" by Trace Adkins

As promised. here are my thoughts on Trace Adkins' new single called "This Ain't No Love Song".  As we have all seen, Adkins is a straight up country singer.  His latest single clearly reflects that.  First off, the sound of the song is a sort of mix of traditional and contemporary country that makes for a unique blend, but it works for Adkins.  I don't think anyone could sing "This Ain't No Love Song" as well as he does, not even my favorite singer.  Trace Adkin's vocals are amazing in this song, making me think of "Every Light in the House".  The instruments in the song are not overwhelming or intrusive on his singing, but instead compliment it and serve as support for his voice.  This is a pretty short "review" but I mean when something is really good, there's not much to say except "Awesome job!!"

One thing I would like to point out is the video.  The song by itself on the radio is awesome but if you check out the video you will like the song even more.

Nice job Mr. Adkins.

"Mine" by Taylor Swift

Oh, oh
Oh, oh

You were in college, working part time, waiting tables
Left a small town, never looked back
I was a flight risk, with a fear of fallin’
Wonderin’ why we bother with love, if it never lasts

I say, can you believe it?
As we’re lyin’ on the couch
The moment I can see it,
Yes, yes, I can see it now

Do you remember we were sittin’ there by the water
You put your arm around me, for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter
You are the best thing that’s ever been mine

Flash forward and we’re taking on the world together
And there’s a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and you figure out why I’m guarded
You say we’ll never make my parents’ mistakes

But we’ve got bills to pay
We’ve got nothing figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes, this is what I thought about

Do you remember we were sittin’ there by the water
You put your arm around me, for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter
You are the best thing that’s ever been mine

Do you remember all the city lights on the water
You saw me start to believe, for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter
You are the best thing that’s ever been mine

Oh, oh
And I remember that fight, 2:30am
You said everything was slippin’ right out of our hands
I ran out cryin’ and you followed me out into the street

Brace myself for the goodbye, cause that’s all I’ve ever know
And you took me by surprise
You said I’ll never leave you alone
You said
I remember how we felt sittin’ by the water
And every time I look at you, it’s like the first time
I fell in love with a careless man’s careful daughter
She is best thing that’s ever been mine

Hold on, you’ll make it last
Hold on, never turn back

You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter
You are the best thing that’s ever been mine

(Hold on) do you believe it?
(Hold on) We’re gonna make it now
(Hold on) I can see it
(Yeah, yeah) I can see it now
